The gift of hospitality is the greatest expression of endearment. To cater to the comfort of a house guest is an opportunity to demonstrate your domestic imagination and your generous thoughtfulness. The summer months are those when family and friends come to visit. Your home becomes your creative palette of domesticity.
Any location in your home can be transformed into guest accommodations. There is no need to fret over not having a guest room. An area with a pull out sofa can easily be converted to a make shift guest area by utilizing a vintage room divider or screen. Lovely sheets and a soft comforter can easily camouflage any sleep sofa or even an elevated air mattress. A child's room that you are sequestering will need a little transformation with toys in totes and stuffed animals in under-the-bed boxes. You can cleverly disguise the juvenile theme with fresh flowers on the dresser and a spare quilt on the bed. In preparing a spare room, make it feel like a personalized space by placing the guests favorite flowers in a vase or favorite candies in a dish.
Breakfast is the easiest meal to prepare for an overnight visitor. These simplicity of boiled or coddled eggs along with bakery croissants, bagels, or muffins make a wonderful presentation. Take the experience to the next level and offer to serve your guest on a tray in their room. Add a small pot of hot water, tea, and fresh fruit and you have the most luxurious breakfast ever! The accoutrements needed for such a setting are very affordable and easy to find. Little silver plate flatware cost around five dollars a piece. Vintage depression glass or china can be mismatched and will cost a fraction of lesser quality new items. Antique linen napkins and towels are always a beautiful touch to add to any place setting and are very inexpensive.
Enjoy your guest to the fullest by making both their stay and your creative preparation a memorable event!
